Paul was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania and raised in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Sharpsville Joint Area High School and studied at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and the New Castle Business School.

Paul served in the U. S. Army and Army Reserve for seven years as a cook, mess sergeant and food procurement specialist before being honorably discharged.

Paul's business career spanned 45 years in the food and agribusiness industries with several major companies. He began as a sales representative and progressed to sales and marketing management, and, then, executive management with areas of responsibility in marketing, sales, new product development, logistics and production planning. He also founded Eastview Food Services, an institutional meat purveyor and food business consultative firm. Paul’s trade organization memberships included the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, Research Chefs Association, National Restaurant Association and International Corporate Chefs Association. During Paul's last fifteen years prior to retiring in 2015, he served on the National Pork Board as a demand enhancement influencer representing the interests of America's 78,000 pork producers.

Paul currently serves on the Executive Committee as Activities Committee Chairman overseeing several subcommittees. He and his wife Jane have been married for 54 years and have 2 children and 2 grandchildren, all residing in Spring Hill, TN.
