Bobby L. Gaslin


Bobby was born in Louisville, KY, May 7, 1946, and grew up on a dairy farm near Boston, KY. He graduated from Old Kentucky Home High School in Bardstown, KY, in 1964, and went on to attend the University of Kentucky in Lexington, graduating in 1968 with a degree in Agronomy.

Bobby began his military career in January 1969, with Basic Training at Ft. Knox, KY. He then did Advanced Individual Training (AIT) in Military Intelligence at Ft. Holabird, MD, after which, he was assigned to the 111th Military Intelligence Group at Ft. Campbell, KY. His primary assignment was conducting background checks for those who needed security clearances for positions in the military or civil service. He was honorably discharged in October 1971.

Bobby began his civilian career in March 1972, as an Agricultural Lending Officer with the Federal Land Bank. Three years later, in 1975, he was appointed Manager of the Federal Land Bank of Elizabethtown, KY. When the Federal Land Banks and Production Credit Associations merged in 1985, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of the merged associations. Bobby retired from the Farm Credit System in 2009.

Bobby has served in many community organizations, including Rotary International, the Kentucky State Finance Board and the Hardin County Agricultural Extension Board and Building Committee. He has also served as deacon for 38 years and finance committee chair for 21 years for his local church.

Bobby has been married to his wife Suzanne Barnes Gaslin since 1970. They have two children and three grandchildren. In their retirement, Bobby and Suzanne enjoy traveling and attending their granchildren’s sporting events and other activities. Bobby currently serves as Treasurer of the Southern Springs Veterans Club.
